Sharfiza Abdul Aziz found her calling to become a licensed paediatric physiotherapy specialist after experiencing first-hand the profound impact and hope her profession offers to physically disabled children and their parents.
With a natural disposition towards little ones, she believes every child can grow to their fullest potential and that no child should be left behind. She has trained at Malaysia’s top government hospitals under tutelage of Ms Marjolein Harting, one of the pioneers in the field. With more than 15 years of experience under her belt, she then founded the social enterprise and private practice, Tender Touch Paediatric Rehab based in Shah Alam.
A graduate from the University of Teesside, England in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Sharfiza treats a wide range of cases within the field, including neurology, respiratory and musculoskeletal cases, with her subspecialty focusing on premature infants and development of children below the age of three.
She leads her team of therapists to amplify the voices of the children they work with by continuously studying and upskilling her team with the latest developments in the field. She reaps immense personal satisfaction from her work that improves not only motor skills but correlated mental development for many young patients.
A mother of three beautiful children herself, Sharfiza finds herself endlessly intrigued and delighted by the forever curious imagination of children. Through her practice at Tender Touch Paediatric Rehab, she encourages seeing matters from the viewpoint of the child, rather than imposing one's own perspective and expectations onto them. When working with her patients, Sharfiza endeavours to build meaningful connections with them, ensuring that the littles ones feel safe, heard and understood.
Sharfiza now focuses her expertise on one-to-one child development and specialised early intervention programmes for children with risks of developmental delay. The Tender Touch Paediatric Rehab team provides them with not only best care, but also the faith that they can grow to their fullest potential and become the best possible versions of themselves.
